Hello!!!

We are delighted to recommend "The Italian Lesson" a masterful production by the esteemed composer Peter Wing Healey, who happens to be our esteemed real estate client. This captivating opera seamlessly weaves borrows from the gripping Amanda Knox murder conviction story.

With its enchanting melodies, virtuosic piano score, and a stellar cast of singers, this production promises an unforgettable experience for you. As Peter Wing Healey's creative vision comes to life on stage, we invite you to immerse yourself in this mesmerizing opera. It's at the Ebell Theater in Highland Park. There are performances on June 10, June 14, and June 17.

As Belinda Foxtrot, the Kansas City coed, arrives in Pannacotta, Italy, the echoes of Amanda Knox's experience resonate within the opera. Like Amanda, Belinda finds herself caught in a web of suspicion and intrigue when her British roommate is tragically murdered. Parallels between these two cases add an extra layer of intensity and suspense to the opera's storyline.

Detective Chief Inspector Giorgio Cantaricci, a character in the opera, mirrors the real-life investigators who were tasked with unraveling the truth behind the Amanda Knox case. With their relentless pursuit of their version of justice, these detectives become a formidable force that threatens to shatter Belinda's world. The opera explores the complexities of their investigation, leaving the audience questioning the motives and methods employed, much like the real-life case that captivated the world.

Through the character of Sister Flavia, the opera delves into the theme of manipulation and deceit. Drawing inspiration from figures involved in the Amanda Knox case, Sister Flavia plays a crucial role in Belinda and Benissimo's wrongful conviction. Her actions mirror the controversial figures who emerged during the Amanda Knox trial, leaving the audience questioning their true intentions and the impact they have on the lives of the accused.

The opera also examines the power of redemption and the quest for justice. In the case of Amanda Knox, her eventual acquittal served as a testament to the importance of perseverance and the ability to challenge the verdict. Similarly, "The Italian Lesson" introduces Madame Zia, a mysterious figure determined to change the course of Belinda and Benissimo's lives. Madame Zia embodies the spirit of those who fought tirelessly for Amanda's freedom, highlighting the significance of seeking justice and vindication.

Throughout the opera, the captivating performances of the talented cast bring these intertwining stories to life. Brooke Iva Lohman's portrayal of Belinda Foxtrot channels the strength and resilience displayed by Amanda Knox. Xavier Prado's depiction of Benissimo captures the unwavering support and love that characterized Amanda's relationship during her trial. Their performances, alongside the ensemble cast, add depth and emotion to the narrative, resonating with the audience on a profound level.

As the sets and costumes designed by Claire Fraser transport the audience to the heart of Pannacotta, Italy, they also incorporate elements reminiscent of the locations and environments central to the Amanda Knox case. The real estate properties that played a pivotal role in the events surrounding Amanda's story are subtly woven into the opera's visual aesthetic, creating a seamless connection between the opera's world and the real estate realm. (We had to get our real estate plug in!)

"The Italian Lesson" honors both the creative genius of composer Peter Wing Healey and the gripping Amanda Knox case. By intertwining these narratives, the opera captivates audiences with its melodic score, exceptional performances, and thought-provoking exploration of justice, redemption, and the powerful impact of real estate in our lives.
