THE MUMMY

 

THE MUMMY 1986


was a Dance/Opera created from the the Boris Karloff Film “The Mummy”.  The text was by Peter Wing Healey and the music was arranged from various sources with the help of Janet Norquist. 


The first part was a complete performance of a Dance/Opera called “The Precious Flower” which had been done first at The Riverside Church Dance Festival and a few months later at Middle Collegiate Church.


The show ran for 4 weeks to audiences of various sizes and included the entire “Bolero” of Ravel done as a Egytian Funeral. 


The show was a co-production with The Divine Theater Company which was in residence at The Middle Collegiate Church in the East Village of New York.


The three Egyptian Maidens - Jamie  de Mare, Peggy Gould and (name lost)

The character of the Princess Ankhesenamun was played by Middle Eastern Dance expert Dunya McPherson.
